NatGeo Presents Next Gen Storytellers with Mariana van Zeller, Christian Cooper, Jeff Jenkins, and Kristen Kish | TCA 2023

NatGeo Explore the World

National Geographic tries to push the limits with its storytelling with real stories and real places.

At the Television Critics Association 2023, NatGeo brought four of its storytellers, with journalist Mariana van Zeller, life-long birder Christian Cooper, travel blogger Jeff Jenkins, and award-winning chef Kristen Kish.

These NatGeo series take the viewers to the most remote locations on Earth with the pursuit of breathtaking landscapes, extraordinary wildlife, exotic foods, epic challenges, and undercover storytelling.

Here is the list of the shows:

  • Trafficked with Marian van Zeller with award-winning journalist and NatGeo correspondent Mariana van Zeller
  • Restaurants at the End of the World with chef and entrepreneur Kristen Kish
  • Never Say Never with Jeff Jenkins with Jeff Jenkins, a global adventurer, travel blogger, and influencer
  • Extraordinary Birder with Christian Cooper with Christian Cooper as the lifelong birder

Also, the panel revealed the release dates for their corresponding shows.

The panelists talked about the challenges of their shows.

Jeff Jenkins talked about his biggest challenge in New Zealand for Never Say Never with Jeff Jenkins “The scariest thing was to climb the 70-feet cliff. I never rock climbed in a day of my life. I’ve never seen a large person rock climb. We had these little shoes to climb.”

“We were filming 10-15 minutes from here [in Pasadena]. We were filming ghost guns. We spoke with these gangs related to the Sinaloa. A buyer came in and got angry when he saw the cameras. That night, he used that gun that he bought and got arrested,” explained Mariana van Zeller on the biggest challenge for her new series Trafficked with Mariana Van Zeller.

Kristen Kish explained that her show was challenging with limited ingredients and kitchens worldwide.

“I realized that with all four chefs, they all relinquished control. Giving up control is an emotional challenge as a chef, but it opens more possibilities in my life,” said Kish.
