In the new series The Irrational, a college professor uses his analytical psychology tools to help solve murders with rational explanations of human behavior.
The new series from NBC stars Jesse L. Martin (Law & Order, The Flash), Maahra Hill (Delilah, Telling Lies), Travina Springer (Ms. Marvel, Strange Angel), Molly Kunz (Widows, The Wolf and the Lion), and Arash DeMaxi (Partner Track).
Here is the logline:
The Irrational follows world-renowned professor of behavioral science Alec Mercer (Jesse L. Martin) as he lends his unique expertise on an array of high-stakes cases involving governments, law enforcements and corporations. His insight and unconventional approach to understanding human behavior lead him and the team on a series of intense, unexpected journeys to solve illogical puzzles and perplexing mysteries. The show is based on the best-selling author Dan Ariely’s book, “Predictably Irrational.”

It’s good to see Jesse L. Martin in the familiar role of investigating crime scenes. Although he played Detective Ed Green on the long-running television series Law & Order, The Irrational should be pretty similar, except that he is not a cop. Nonetheless, fans of crime narratives will enjoy Martin’s new role on the small screen.
The Irrational premieres on Monday, September 25, at 10 p.m. ET on NBC. New episodes air on Mondays and stream on Peacock the following day.
