In stories about time wars and time travel, the question always remains is would you ever manipulate the past knowing that it would change the future? In Needle in a Timestack, one man’s love for a woman sought out a way to rechange his present by manipulating the past in a time warp. Instead, it may leave an unforeseen consequence that manipulated everyone’s lives.
The film is from acclaimed producer John Ridley, who was involved with 12 Years a Slave, Ben-Hur, the American Crime television series, and many more.
It has an all-star cast with Leslie Odom Jr., Cynthia Erivo, Orlando Bloom, Freida Pinto, and Jadyn Wong.
Here’s the official synopsis for Needle in a Timestack:
If love is in the form of a circle, what lines would you cross to be with your soulmate? In this gripping, near-future love story directed by Oscar-winner John Ridley, Nick and Janine (Oscar nominees Leslie Odom and Cynthia Erivo) live in marital bliss, until Janine’s ex-husband (Orlando Bloom) warps time to try to tear them apart using Nick’s college girlfriend (Frieda Pinto). As Nick’s memories and reality disappear, he must decide what he’s willing to sacrifice in order to hold onto – or let go of – everything he loves. Can love endure in a future where time is fluid, and all of life may be just an illusion?

Based on the short story by Robert Silverberg, John Silver delivers a touching love story on one’s conflict in the manipulation of time with blends both romance and science fiction.
“This was a story about the endurance of love. There are plenty of stories out there about how technology is going to destroy us but what interested me, what compelled me, was that this was a story that was so much about positive emotions, about love,” said director John Ridley. “There is no villain. There is no bad person. And that’s what I loved about this story and ultimately what I wanted for this film, is to leave the audience with overwhelmingly positive emotion.”
Needle in a Timestack is in select theaters, Digital and On Demand this Friday, October 15. It releases on Blu-ray and DVD the following week on Tuesday, October 19.
