Neil Brown Jr. in Last Night in Rozzie

After years of playing supporting cast in notable film and television, actor Neil Brown Jr. landed his first lead role in the indie darling Last Night in Rozzie. And it’s a good fitting dramatic role.

He stars alongside Jeremy Sisto (Six Feet Under), and Nicky Whelan (Knight of Cups). Sean Gannet directed the movie.

Here’s the official synopsis:

A tale of self-reflection and the importance of facing trauma, Last Night in Rozzie is a testament to the importance of confronting your past. Ronnie Russo (Neil Brown Jr.), a successful lawyer in New York, is summoned back to his old Boston neighborhood, Roslindale, by his childhood best friend Joey Donovan (Jeremy Sisto). Now on his deathbed, Joey has only one request for Ronnie—help him reunite with his ten-year-old son.

Sympathetic to Joey’s situation, Ronnie works to get closer to Joey’s estranged ex-wife Pattie (Nicky Whelan) to fulfill his friend’s dying wish. However, the more he learns about the man that Joey has become, the more he questions his mission. Returning to his hometown after 25 years, Ronnie is forced to reconcile his traumatic past rooted in the last night he and Joey spent together as kids and the repercussions that followed.
