It’s been a tumultuous few months for Studio Ghibli fans. It wasn’t too long ago that the studio said they weren’t open to the world of streaming. Roughly five seconds later, it was reported that they were headed to HBO Max — at least in the United States. That left international rights completely up in the air. So, would this mean the rest of the world had to keep on buying the Blu-rays?
Perhaps not. Netflix’s New Zealand account posted some recent news via Twitter, indicating a brand-new deal across the globe.
“From February 2020, 21 films from the legendary animation house Studio Ghibli are coming exclusively to Netflix.
“We’re proud to bring beloved, influential stories like Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle and My Neighbour Totoro to first-time viewers and high-flying fans alike.”
