Netflix And Mark Millar Announce New Comic Series

It has been just over a year since Netflix and comic book writer Mark Millar (Civil War, The Ultimates, Superman: Red Son) announced a deal which would see Netflix begin publishing comics. Back in June of this year they released their first book, The Magic Order, and now we know the next series will be called Prodigy.

Joining Millar will be Brazillian artist Rafael Albuquerque (Detective Comics, American Vampire) who won an Eisner in 2011 for his art work.

Netflix released an official synopsis:

In Prodigy, the world’s smartest man isn’t content with running the world’s most successful business. His brilliant mind needs constant challenge and so he’s become the go-to guy for governments around the world when a problem arises they just can’t handle. A Nobel-Prize winning scientist, a genius composer, an Olympic-level athlete and an expert in the occult, Edison Crane is as addicted to the mysteries of the world as he is to sitting at the top of the Fortune 500. These are the tales of the world’s most exceptional man and this story marks his first published adventure.

In the official statement on the new series Millar said:

“I gave myself a challenge when I created Prodigy. I wanted to write the smartest thing I’ve ever written and at the same time top any action set-pieces I’ve ever managed in the past and I honestly couldn’t be happier with how this has turned out.”

Millar also went on to praise Albuquerque as a genius and “one of the best artists in the world.”

Netflix and Millar had huge success with The Magic Order which had pre-sales reaching a near 20 year high. The first two issues are out and the following four are due monthly.

Prodigy is set to hit shelves and digital stores on December 5, 2018. Are you excited for this new series? What’s been your favorite Millar story? Tell us below in the comments.
