In celebration of Pokémon Day, Netflix announced Monday morning their new stop-motion project, Pokémon Concierge. This is the streaming giant’s first collaborative production with the Pokémon Company. This project is produced by the critically acclaimed Dwarf Studios.
Part of the announcement included a quick teaser trailer introducing us to the stop-motion animation that we’ll see in the new series Pokémon Concierge. You can check it out below!
The quick look features one of my favorite Pokémon, Psyduck. This poor Pokémon no doubt is in need of a vacation and by the sounds of the voice we heard, it sounds like it’s in the right place.
According to Netflix and the teaser, Pokémon Concierge will expand the world of pocket monsters. It follows someone named Haru that is a concierge at the ‘Pokémon Resort’. Here we’ll see her interactions with the Pokémon and their owners that visit the resort as guests.
“Netflix is looking forward to delighting fans in Japan and around the world with ‘Pokémon Concierge,’ an entirely new visual and storytelling experience featuring ground-breaking stop-motion animation set in the Pokémon world in close collaboration with The Pokémon Company,” said Minyoung Kim, Vice President of Netflix Content in Asia.
“We’re also excited to reveal this new series on Pokémon Day and provide fans with even more things to look forward to on this special holiday celebrating the popular franchise,” continued Kim.

It will be interesting to see the direction of this series. Fans of the franchise are so accustomed to action sequences with battles and other events that this may be a little too far left for some.
As a fan of stop-motion animation, I am excited to see Psyduck and other Pokémon in that medium.
Currently, Netflix has not announced a release date for Pokémon Concierge.
