Netflix has announced new partnerships with anime houses Anima, Sublimation, and David Production. This is in addition to the 2018 deal with Production I.G and Bones. The new deals mean that anime fans will soon be getting a significant amount of original content so long as they are Netflix subscribers.
Working together with Netflix, animation house Anima will jointly create an original anime series Altered Carbon: Resleeved, based on Netflix’s original live action science fiction series. Animation house Sublimation will work with Netflix to adapt the video game Dragon’s Dogma. Netflix will work with Spriggan to create an anime based on a manga series.

The titles will be joining a list of anime already in the Netflix pipeline including Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045, Vampire in the Garden, and Super Crooks based on the comic book created by Mark Millar and artist Leinil Francis Yu.
Netflix’s Director of Content said:
“Netflix aims to be the most compelling and attractive home for anime fans, creators and production studios. We are creating an environment where production houses can do their best work, and deliver their shows on a service where we connect anime fans from over 190 countries to content they love”.
I have enjoyed Netflix’s dark Castlevania, fighting series Baki The Grappler, and the body horror channeling Devilman Crybaby. I think my eyeballs may have needed a shower after that last one. So, it sounds like Netflix is continuing to make sure there’s always good content on the horizon.
