Star Trek: Michelle Yeoh’s Spin-Off Series ‘Years Off’

Both a Star Trek: Section 31 movie staring Michelle Yeoh and a Galaxy Quest series were revealed yesterday and coming to Paramount +.

Every five seconds it seems like I’m reporting on a new Star Trek project. Sometimes I’m talking about the various incarnations of Star Trek 4, sometimes about the Tarantino project, sometimes on Discovery, Lower Decks, and the upcoming Picard series, and another one I’ve written about is the potential spin-off series Section 31, which would reportedly follow Michelle Yeoh’s character from Discovery.

Does it feel like we’re getting just a little bit too much Star Trek? Maybe, yeah, a little bit, even if we are only seeing one of those properties in circulation at this point. But if you were worried about getting Lower Decks, Discovery, Picard, and Section 31 all at once, then…maybe you won’t have to worry? At least you won’t have to worry about seeing them start all at once.

While at a recent panel on the Power of Programming in a Multi-Platform Universe at the Innovative TV Conference in Israel, CBS TV Studios president David Stapf spoke briefly about Section 31, saying that “It’s a good couple years away.”

This means, at least, it gives us a couple years of breathing room for the other couple series to dig into a couple of seasons. That being said, it’s still very possible it could be starting when they are all still running, and if the films start to gain momentum, it could even be coming when those are on their way as well.

Basically, Star Trek is turning into Star Wars now, so enjoy it while you can!
