Netflix Partners With Dark Horse To Launch A Line Of Stranger Things Comic Books

Official plot details for Stranger Things Season 3 are still under wraps, but it looks like we are going to be able to go back to the first Season and learn more about the Upside Down this fall. In an announcement made via Entertainment Weekly Netflix is partnering up with Dark Horse to launch a new line of comic books based on the very popular Stranger Things. The first of which is scheduled to hit comic book shops this fall.

This partnership will be a “a multi-year publishing line” that will take Stranger Things fans deeper into the world that is Hawkins, Indiana. Dark Horse President Mike Richardson said that, “Dark Horse is known for championing stories and storytellers. We are so excited to work with Netflix to bring the world of Stranger Things to comics.”

The first of these comic books will explore what happened to Will Byers, played by Noah Schnapp, during the time he was transported to the extra dimensional Upside Down during Season 1. This four issue mini-series will be written by Jody Houser who worked on titles like Mother Panic: Gotham A.D. for Dc Comics, as well as Faith from Valiant Entertainment. The artwork will be done by Stefano Martino, inked by Keith Champagne, colored by Lauren Affe and lettered by Mate Piekos.

This will be an interesting read, as it will be great to get an idea of what Will went through in the Upside Down. But like with most prequel comics, it’s hard to get invested in the book if you already know what is the character’s fate. But with a great writer like Houser on board this is definitely worth picking up.
