It’s incredibly easy for us to assume that there’s no way us to commit murder. Sure, we’ve all been in minds, but there could be nothing so drastic that it would lead to us actually ending the life of another human, right?

We’d all certainly like to think that. However, the sad truth is that many of us are incredibly susceptible to social pressure, and as proven by the famous Milgram Experiment (Google it), it really doesn’t take a whole lot. Without even intending, humans are capable of finding themselves at the giving end of a murder.

Enter illusionist Derren Brown, who felt this would make a great psychological experiment. Could he and a bunch of actors get a man to commit murder? That’s the basis of the upcoming Netflix special.

The official synopsis for Derren Brown: The Push is below:

“Psychological Illusionist Derren Brown makes his much-anticipated US debut with the groundbreaking special The Push, which premieres on Netflix February 27. In The Push, Brown exposes the psychological secrets of obedience and social compliance. He expertly lifts the lid on the terrifying truth that, when confronted with authority, our natural instinct is to unflinchingly obey without question – to such an extent that even the most moral people can be made to commit the most horrendous acts, simply because they are told to do so.”

Derren Brown: The Push hits Netflix on February 27, 2018.
