Aaron Hernandez seemed to have it all going on for himself. He was a very gifted young football player from Bristol, Connecticut who played for the University of Florida in college and there was recognized as an All-American. Then in 2010 NFL Draft, he was drafter to the New England Patriots in the fourth round. Unfortunately he was only able to make one Super Bowl appearance in Super Bowl XLVI, where they lost to the New York Giants.
He had just signed a new five year $40 million contract with the Patriots, when his life would take a drastic turn as he would become a household name for the most infamous murder case involving an American athlete since OJ Simpson. He would go on trial for the murder of Odin Lloyd and two Boston area men. Although convicted for the murder of Lloyd, he was acquitted for the double murder. But 27 days after the acquittal, the 27 year old killed himself in his prison cell.
Now Netflix will be releasing a three part documentary series titled, Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez that features exclusive courtroom footage, Hernandez’s phone calls from prison and interviews with people that knew Hernandez and Lloyd. This series will meticulously examine the perfect storm of factors that lead to his arrest, trial, conviction and death.
This series is directed by Geno McDermott and produced by Terry Leonard. The executive producers for this series is Angus Wall, Christina Douglas, Dan Wetzel, Kevin Armstrong, Shawn De Clair, Jon Wertheim and Dermott.
