Netflix has just launched the official trailer for GRISELDA, a brand new Limited Drama Series featuring the Sofía Vergara.
The trailer offers a first look at Carolina Giraldo, also known as Karol G, in her on-screen debut as “Carla.” Hailing from Medellín, Carla is a close friend of the titular character Griselda and plays a pivotal role in the narrative. Arriving in Miami with a group of sex workers, Carla becomes one of Griselda’s most trusted confidants as they navigate the dangerous world of smuggling.
Sofía Vergara takes on the role of the savvy and ambitious Griselda Blanco. Adding to her involvement, Vergara serves as an Executive Producer for the series. GRISELDA is set to make its global debut on Netflix on January 25, 2024, promising viewers an intense and gripping experience.
The series draws inspiration from the life of Griselda Blanco, a woman who carved her name in history by creating one of the most profitable cartels. Set against the backdrop of 1970s-80s Miami, Blanco’s lethal combination of savagery and charm allowed her to expertly navigate the complexities of business and family, earning her the infamous title of “the Godmother.”
GRISELDA is the brainchild of Eric Newman, the showrunner behind NARCOS and NARCOS: MEXICO, and Andrés Baiz, who directs all six episodes of the limited series. Co-created by Doug Miro, Ingrid Escajeda, and Carlo Bernard, the show boasts an impressive lineup of executive producers, including Newman, Miro, Escajeda, Bernard, Vergara, and Luis Balaguer with Latin World Entertainment.
