Netflix’s Second Bright Trailer Makes Shootouts Awkward

Netflix has just released the second full trailer for Bright, their upcoming original film. Check it out above.

And be sure to check out the official synopsis below:

“Set in an alternate present-day where humans, orcs, elves, and fairies have been co-existing since the beginning of time. Bright is genre-bending action movie that follows two cops from very different backgrounds. Ward (Will Smith) and Jakoby (Joel Edgerton), embark on a routine patrol night and encounter a darkness that will ultimately alter the future and their world as they know it.”

While this trailer doesn’t necessarily have the same emotional stakes as the first one — nor is the story as clear — it does show a lot of the comedy, action, and dynamic between leads Ward and Jakoby. This will likely be a huge plus for those who may find the initial premise a bit off-putting or weird. Based on what we’ve seen so far, with the clever mix between crime, fantasy, action, and comedy, Bright looks to be a very unique beast that couldn’t have made it through the typical studio system. and it’ll be interesting to see if it’ll be successful for them.

Bright is a bit of a big deal for Netflix. In a year that’s set to have 50 films hit the streaming service, Bright stands out as the poster child of what can be accomplished. With a budget of around $90 million, it truly is a standard Hollywood level production, and it’ll go a long way to enhancing the credibility for those who still think that theatrical is the only way to go.
