Valiant Entertainment fans have been waiting a long time for the first look at one of their most beloved characters from the Valiant Universe, Bloodshot. Right at midnight on Monday, Sony Pictures Entertainment released the first official trailer mostly showcasing it’s title character Bloodshot who is played by the long time Fast and Furious star Vin Diesel. You can check out the trailer for yourself above!
One of the most brutal moments in the trailer is one that was shared on Sunday by the official Bloodshot Twitter page announcing the release of the trailer that featured Bloodshot getting shot in the face only to show it coming back together, something that comic book fans will consider ‘normal‘ for Bloodshot otherwise known as Ray Garrison. His character was created by Keven VanHook, Don Perlin and Bob Layton and first appeared in Valiant Comics’ Eternal Warrior #4 back in 1992.
The film will follow Garrison as he is “saved” by Project Rising Spirit and is injected with nanites in his blood that give him the ability to rapidly heal himself, shape shift as well as superhuman strength. When he he is given these nanites, they take the opportunity to turn him into a weapon by implanting memories in his mind that they continuously change depending on their target. Once a new memory is implanted Bloodshot is released and he takes them out as a form of vengeance in his mind. Nothing can go wrong with that right?
As a fan of the character myself this is not what I had in mind as I expected the character to be a little more pale like what we have seen in the comic books. However I am very excited to finally see a Valiant character on the big screen. Originally this film was supposed to kick off a shared cinematic universe that was based on the Valiant characters like the one DC and Marvel has, but with Harbinger moving over to Paramount Pictures, it would seem like the chances of getting a Harbinger Wars film featuring multiple Valiant characters is very small.
