Some potential new casting details along with Hobbit information has been leaked for Amazon’s Lord of the Rings show by Fellowship of Fans. FoF has been one of the only sources giving any LOTR show information out there, so it’s worth paying attention to in my opinion. FoF published a series of social media posts below regarding the still untitled Lord of the Rings show. One of the debates fans have been having is over some words from actor/comedian Lenny Henry, who claimed to be playing a Hobbit.
If you know your Tolkien lore, then Hobbits are never really mentioned or included in any of the stories of old until we first meet Bilbo Baggins. Whilst it always seemed likely that Hobbits existed in the Second Age of Middle-earth, very few had come across them. The first stories of the halflings don’t appear till the Third Age and even their own history seems to only go back so far.
However, FoF says that Hobbits are in the show. Check out this Hobbit information below.
EXCLUSIVE: Sir Lenny Henry is telling the truth and there will be Hobbits in #LOTRonPrime.
In season 1 the main Proto Hobbit storyline is the "tribe travelling west". In the show they will be referred to as "Pioneers" but lore wise they are Harfoots. They will be in 6 episodes. pic.twitter.com/8NzvVBXDof— Fellowship of Fans (@FellowshipFans) October 17, 2021
My only concern is that Hobbits don’t have a very big role at all. If they have too much of a part to play, then Man and Elves would be more familiar with them. What is especially important here is that Hobbits do not come to the attention of Sauron. After all, that’s a key component of how Sauron fails in the final War of the Ring. To see no Hobbits at all in this show would not have bothered me, equally seeing them once or twice is also fine. However I am concerned there ae Hobbits in potentially 6 episodes of the opening season. Hope, those concerns are unwarranted.

Sadly I cannot add anything further to the guess work of who these characters can be? This is a bit different than say casting the actual The Lord of the Rings story or The Hobbit. There is a set list of characters to fill in those completed stories. However, there are so many characters we have likely never heard of being invented for this show, it’s hard to work out which are characters that exist in the legendarium to begin with? Here’s what we know, Morfydd Clark is play Galadriel (adult), and Lenny Henry is a Hobbit. Other than that, we think Robert Aramayo may be playing Elrod, the role Will Poulter gave up to be Adam Warlock in the MCU. However that is not confirmed, it’s educated guess work right now.

Everyone else, up for grabs. We don’t even know what time period this show will be set. The Second Age lasted for 3441 years. It ended with the last alliance of Elves and Men we saw at the beginning of The Lord of the Rings movie. However the image shown on the tease poster, shown above is 100% not Second Age. That image is clearly identified as being early within the First Age, well over 500 years prior. So it’s currently all a bit of a mystery as far as I am concerned and that’s fine.
What do you think of this new Hobbit information? What about the potential casting details? As always, leave any thoughts you have below for The Lord of the Rings show.
