The Hollywood Reporter has revealed the short list for role of Han Solo in the character’s upcoming Solo (pun intended) film. According to their sources last week in London a few tests were conducted with actors Alden Ehrenreich (Hail! Caesar), Jack Reynor (Transformers: Age of Extinction), and Taron Egerton (The Kingsman and Eddie the Eagle). While there definitely may be other contenders it seems fairly certain Disney is narrowing it down to one of these three.
The three come from a wide net that Disney had cast, as they courted more than 2,500 actors according to THR’s sources. From that large listing it was narrowed down to around 10 actors which had the three mentioned above as well as Miles Teller (Whiplash), Ansel Elgort (The Fault in Our Stars) and Emory Cohen (Brooklyn), even unnamed actors from the recent Richard Linklater movie “Everybody Wants Some†had also met with the directors.
Phil Lord and Chris Miller (21 Jump Street, The LEGO Movie) are helming the as-yet-untitled film. Production is scheduled to begin in early 2017 for a May 25th, 2018 theatrical release.
Disney declined to comment.
