New Comic Book This April Gets You Ready For Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge Land At Disney Parks

One of the most anticipated destinations for 2019 is without a doubt Disneyland Resort and Disneyworld Resort as they prepare to unveil their new 14-acre land, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. In California, it will open in in summer and in Florida in the fall. As reported before it will feature rides like the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. The area will transport you to Batuu, a thriving port of rogue traders, droids and creatures. There you can visit the Black Spire Outpost the notorious spaceport where pirates, smugglers, merchants and wanderers travel from across the galaxy to make their money. Would you like to know more?

Well, you’re in luck as Marvel Entertainment will be releasing a five-issue Star Wars mini-series titled, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge that will tie into the all-new lands that open later this year. It is written by Ethan Sacks, who recently wrote the Star Wars: Age of Republic series with artwork by Will Sliney, who did the artwork for the Solo: A Star Wars Story comic book adaptation.

“For me personally, this is a chance to fulfill a lifelong dream that started back when I was 4 years old watching the opening crawl for the first time at the Astor Plaza in Times Square during the summer of 1977,” said Sacks. “This new adventure, set in the wondrous – and dangerous – Black Spire Outpost, will have profound consequences for the Star Wars universe, and fans will be excited to see this story span through the eras and bring together some all-time favorite characters, including Han Solo and Chewbacca!”

In this mini-series according to starwars.com, we will have the opportunity to meet the Dok-Ondar an infamous Ithorian collector of rare antiquities. Also, we will find out what happens when the First Order reaches the edge of space. The key to saving this outpost seems to involve a job pulled long ago by none other than Han Solo and Chewbacca. You can check out a concept design variant cover art that features Dok-Ondar designed by Karl Lindberg and Iain McCaig below!

Scott Trowbridge, creative executive for the Star Wars portfolio from Walt Disney Imagineering talked about the outpost and the planet Batuu. “Black Spire Outpost is a place of endless intrigue and adventure, and what’s uniquely exciting about the Star Wars universe is that we are able to bring these stories to life across multiple platforms including comic books, novels, games and the immersive experiences we are building in our theme parks. We are able to integrate back stories, introduce new characters, as well as reveal previously untold stories about fan-favorite characters and their history with the planet Batuu and its colorful inhabitants.”

Even with Disney consistently raising prices at their parks, there is no doubt that most people will just say “shut up and take my money” when this Star Wars area opens. It will be great to get a story before to get some insight on the attractions. Will you be picking this up to get you ready for your trip? Let us know in the comment section below!
