Welp, we got a new trailer for the upcoming Pokémon: Detective Pikachu. I, for one, as a lifelong fan of the series, am interested in seeing what they come up with for the film in terms of the creatures themselves. Sure, we’ve seen a good number of them in the first trailer, but as far as how they’re actually integrated into the story…that’s still in the air.
But you can bet the movie will be full of ’em. The trailer has more than I can count running around, and the same could be said about the new poster. The studio recently dropped it on the official Twitter account a couple hours before the new trailer, and while it has Pikachu and the lead character at the center under the neon sign logo, there are Easter eggs galore in terms of actual Pokémon.

Right off the top of my head alone, you can see Bulbasaur, Jigglypuff, Squirtle, and Charizard all over the poster, hiding in various corners. It’s almost like a big Where’s Waldo drawing. But if you’re really ready to see what this movie has to offer in terms of story, look no further than the kickass trailer that just hit.
Personally, I think Reynolds is nailing it as Pikachu himself, and while the comedy definitely skews younger, it’s also the kind of humor that adults can seemingly enjoy. Let’s hope the movie itself is in line with that. Oh yeah, and can we talk about the fact that MEWTWO is confirmed to be in this movie?
Seriously, it looks fantastic.
