We have a new and for once different Fantastic Four: First Steps spot which sees Silver Surfer herald Galactus in New York City. As you would guess the Fantastic Four are at hand to witness. However, Shalla-Bal (silver Surfer) makes it clear there is nothing that can be done. Might as well go say what’s important before the end comes.
This is a story we’ve seen on screen before in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. However, this is already far more dramatic, the Herald appearing in Times Square and declaring to the world that their time is almost over.
This feels much more like the comic book event to me, and this story was a huge event for Marvel back in the day.

We’ve also heard some more positive reports about the 30 minutes of footage shown in Brazil last weekend. Apparently it wasn’t 30 minutes straight, but a 30 minute edit of different scenes. Those in attendance brave enough to report are very positive. However, these events are filled with die hard Marvel fans so take that into consideration.
Going by the current Superman reviews, (more on that later) The Fantastic Four: First Steps has room. Room at least to be the most critically acclaimed of July’s blockbuster movies. We’ll see where Superman ends up in a week’s time of course. However, more important will be the audience scores and the box office figures. Disney really needs this to be a hit, even if not a huge hit after the well received Thunderbolts* performed poorly.
In the meantime… Let us know what you think of this new Fantastic Four: First Steps spot that see’s Silver Surfer herald Galactus in New York? Thoughts below as always.
