New Obi-Wan Kenobi Rumor Isn’t Much Of A Rumor | Barside Buzz

Obi-Wan Kenobi To Premiere In May Rumor | Barside Buzz

Today we are sharing a new Obi-Wan Kenobi rumor. However, for me at least, this one isn’t much of a rumor at all. MSW were great for Star Wars leaks back when the sequels were being made. The outlet claims they have some inside information on Obi-Wan Kenobi.

However since a few issues arose with EIC Jason Ward, MSW seem to be producing much less content. My guess was that Ward lost some of his insiders over his faux pas, or that his insiders were rooted within Bad Robot. Ward’s leaks for The Force Awakens and The Rise of Skywalker were plentiful compared to The Last Jedi an definitely more accurate. However, this is all just guess work from me, so let’s get to what they said.

The report really only gives us two small details. One, that Obi Wan will go off-planet in the show, and not remain on Tatooine solely. Secondly, that Kenobi will have a lightsaber duel with an inquisitor. The thing is, I feel like we already knew both these details in a roundabout way anyway. Corey Van Dyke, formerly of KRT revealed that Moses Ingram’s character on Obi-Wan Kenobi was an inquisitor when appearing on Steele Wars. This was information that we here at LRM were able to back up 100% with our own source at Lucasfilm. You can catch our coverage of that in the related section below.

Now, granted, that does not mean that it was a guarantee Ingram and McGregor’s characters would face off in the show. However, I feel like almost everyone felt like this was going to be the case. Why bring in an inquisitor and have the actor train to use a lightsaber if you are not going to have Obi-Wan kick her butt at some point? Still, I guess no one had stated this specifically previously, so I’m just going to assume this one is legit. I’ll be shocked is Ingram and McGregor do not perform in a duel together, put it that way.

As for the Obi-Wan will go off-planet part, again I don’t think this will shock anyone. We at LRM have not covered this aspect of the show in an article, but Shockey did confirm from his sources that the whole show is not set on Tatooine on one of our most recent The Cantina podcasts. Again, I don’t seem to recall anyone specifically saying Obi-Wan goes off-planet, however I feel it was implied. I’ll double check with Shockey on this one for sure and update if he can confirm this with his sources for us.

But, yeah, I again would have a hard time believing Obi-Wan does not leave Tatooine. After all, I don’t think we can see Vader vs Obi-Wan on that planet for obvious reasons and Kathleen Kennedy herself teased us with the rematch of the century between the pair. As far as Shockey has said, a big focus of Obi-Wan Kenobi will be Vader hunting obsessively for his old master. Though, we also know the show will have flashbacks with Hayden Christensen appearing as Anakin once more. Feel free to check out the last time The Cantina dug into Obi-Wan Kenobi in the related section above.

Anyway, it’s always good to get little details which match up from a variety of sources. That about sums up everything we know about Obi-Wan Kenobi thus far. Oh, other than the fact we now know Indira Varma is playing an Imperial Officer from set photos. I’m excited to see what Deborah Chow delivers, I really am.

What do you think of this new Obi-Wan Kenobi rumor. Do you agree with me that this is information that was already kinda assumed anyway? As always, feel free to leave any thoughts below.
