New Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark Trailer Is Fittingly Terrifying

Who would have thought that you could take a children’s story (even a scary one) and turn it into a horror movie that stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the rest of the big horror movies out there aimed at an older audience? Yeah, it’s impossible to say for sure given that we haven’t seen the movie yet, but if this new trailer is any indication, this film could be quite the nightmare-inducer for a whole new generation of horror fans.

The trailer for Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark tells the story of a group of kids that breaks into a haunted house and after uncovering a book of secrets, proceeds to get in a hell of a lot of trouble. If the images drawn in the kids’ book from your youth horrified you, this movie looks to have perfectly captured it.

Below is the official synopsis for Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark:

“It’s 1968 in America. Change is blowing in the wind…but seemingly far removed from the unrest in the cities is the small town of Mill Valley where for generations, the shadow of the Bellows family has loomed large. It is in their mansion on the edge of town that Sarah, a young girl with horrible secrets, turned her tortured life into a series of scary stories, written in a book that has transcended time—stories that have a way of becoming all too real for a group of teenagers who discover Sarah’s terrifying home.”
