New Star Trek Picard Series Adds To Cast With Newcomer

The new Star Trek TV series has found the next member of its cast. Evan Evagora is joining the crew of the next Federation starship. Further details are scant right now but what we do know is Evagora will be in good company. Evagora’s fellow cast includes X-Men’s Patrick Stewart, Michelle Hurd, and Santiago Cabrera.

Presently there has not been an official title announced for the new series (though there has been speculation), but we do know the series will follow Jean-Luc Picard post the classic late eighties early nineties Star Trek: The Next Generation. Here’s an interesting tidbit. The TV series has a connection to the 2009 Star Trek film. The very same J.J. Abrams movie that featured Wonder Woman’s Chris Pine, Guardians of The Galaxy’s Zoe Salanda, and Mission Impossible: Fallout’s Simon Pegg.

Back in January Alex Kurtzman who’s an executive producer on the new series commented that – “Picard’s life was radically altered by the dissolution of the Romulan Empire.” Kurtzman is referring to the very same events that led to the destruction of Spock’s home planet Romulus. You may recall the J.J. Abrams film delved into time tricky time travel.

I hope things continue to look good for this show as future announcements are sure to come. The closest thing I’ve gotten to anything even resembling Trek recently has been The Orville. It’ll be good to see what this new iteration adds to the mix of streaming content out there. The series will air exclusively on CBS All Access.  Director Hanelle Culpepper has enlisted to helm the first two episodes. A few of Culpepper’s credits include directing episodes of The Flash, 90210, Criminal Minds, and Star Trek: Discovery.
