Star Wars: The Last Jedi Rumor Tells Us The New State Of The Galaxy

We don’t know about you, but we love us some good old-fashioned Star Wars rumors. It’s been months since Rogue One: A Star Wars Story first hit theaters, and as such, it’s left us itching for what’s happening next in a galaxy far, far away. Namely, we want to know what’s in store for us in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the eighth chapter in the Skywalker family saga.

From the get-go, this looks to be the most radically different of the series so far in that we begin roughly ten seconds after The Force Awakens. Usually with these films there are months or years in between episodes, and as such, we’ll likely be in for a completely different experience. If the recent rumor from the folks over at Making Star Wars is to be believed, the immediate ramifications of the events in The Force Awakens are partially what’s being dealt with.

Before we get into that, it’s important to understand how the First Order and Resistance worked prior to The Force Awakens. To many people in the Republic, the idea of a rising First Order was all hearsay. Most of the government denied it as a thing, and the Resistance was a secretly-funded group meant to help put a stop to the First Order — hence their ragtag nature.

Now let’s dive into the rumor.

Needless to say, if you don’t want to be spoiled, look away now.

SPOILER ALERT!

Here’s what they had to say.

Following the destruction of Starkiller base, the presence of the First Order is no longer a secret.

“Those who used to laugh at the idea that The First Order was a threat are either dead or no longer laughing.  The Cold War-style standoff is publicly over after the full-on assault on the Republic and the senate. The galaxy no longer views Snoke as someone that is irrelevant on the galactic stage. The galaxy knows he and his cronies are maniacal zealots and they should be feared for better or worse. The galaxy seems to mostly understand that the First Order is eventually coming to conquer its worlds and those worlds have to fall in line or resist. Most understand that war has returned and the perceived era of peace is over.

“Snoke understands that everything the First Order used to do in secret is no longer an option and a very overt war is on the horizon. Unfortunately, The Republic has completely collapsed after being attacked by Starkiller Base in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The galaxy is in complete disarray. The galaxy understands that everyone has to pick a side now.”

The biggest thing to come from this is that General Leia Organa is no longer alone in her fight against The First Order. The big, bad organization is no longer a secret boogeyman, and Leia will finally be able to fight alongside many others against the massive threat to democracy.

All we can say about this rumor is: damn. This is where it’s at. We love the idea of the stakes being raised now that the cat’s out of the bag. Things couldn’t continue forth as they have, and it can only mean that the galaxy will be gearing up for an inevitable war. I expect the scope of this to be increased dramatically in The Last Jedi on Leia’s end, with Rey off to the side, training up with Luke for the upcoming clash.

What do you think of this new rumor? Is this the kind of stuff you want to see out of The Last Jedi? Let us know your thoughts down below!
