There’s a new The Wheel of Time Season 2 promo clip out folks, and it’s lifted straight outta the books. That is a good thing as a fan of the books by the way, in case that’s not clear. With Season 2 premiering with the first three episodes on Sept 1st, this latest clip was posted to Instagram, then Twitter, or X, or whatever..

The scene we are watching, with NO SPOILERS is lifted straight off the pages of the books being adapted. Everything honestly feels perfect here and like the book come alive. In all of Season 1 I don’t think there was scene that felt like straight adaptation to me. I’m therefore glad some effort has gone in that direction for Season 2. There are of course reasons why Season 1 was harder to make as direct an adaptation. In my mind, the main reason is that the book isn’t that good. Things got better afterwards.

Without giving too much away, this is Nynaeve being prepared to take the Accepted test with the Aes Sedai. All women begin as Novices and only progress once they pass this test. That’s not them full Aes Sedai by a long shot, and I won’t get into what actually happens or what comes next.

This is a good sign for Season 2. I like the darker overtones of how this is all set up, which again, is straight from the books. However, I won’t get my hype up too much just yet. Season 1 had some good moments, some I praised as improving upon the book. Yet, there were some bad decisions made also. The finale was also a bit of a mess and felt very rushed. We shall see.
