Nicholas Wong’s first passion was in animation. His interest was with Disney films, Miyazaki anime, and even Claymation. Then in high school, he became more interested in the storytelling aspects rather than animation.

He went on to film school, which led him to an internship on Degrassi: The Next Generation, and the rest is history.

His editing career consists mostly of television series and short films. The more notable television series included Syfy’s Dark Matter, Syfy’s Killjoys, Sundance Now’s Baroness Von Sketch Show, and Hulu’s Utopia Falls.

Additionally, he worked on Scott Paterson’s fantasy comedic short film Beacons of Gondor, which plays virtually at this weekend’s GenCon gaming convention. The short fantasy film is about lighting the fires to signal the upcoming orc invasion in The Lord of the Rings.

LRM Online exclusively spoke via video conference call with Nicholas Wong about his editing work and career. This marks the new conversational series of interviews titled Hollywood Careers for this site.

Hollywood Careers is an interview video series that delves into careers of folks in the industry. The aim is to enlighten viewers about the intricacies of the entertainment business. The interviews consist of diverse professions such as on-set tutors, costume designers, writers, etc. The series digs into what that profession is and its impact on projects. In the future, there will be original video footages to help illustrate the importance of these professions.
