Over a year ago, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle hit theaters and surprised the hell out of a lot of us. And I honestly don’t mean the movie itself. As I expected, the movie was a fun ride for the family, albeit a tad unspecial (at least in my humble opinion), but what really took me was its overall performance. It managed to hold up against Star Wars: The Last Jedi and nearly make $1 billion worldwide.

One other interesting aspect of the film was the “secret” character in it. Throughout none of the marketing did they even touch on Alex, another “player” in the game who had been stuck for decades. With the help of the main cast, he was finally able to free himself from Jumanji and live the life he was supposed to live back in the real world.

But would this character be returning in the sequel? Well, as it turns out, yes. Deadline is reporting that Nick Jonas, who plays Alex, will be reprising his role in the follow-up film. But what does this mean for the story itself? And does this also mean that his real-life counterpart, Jefferson, played by Colin Hanks, will be back as well?

Sadly, the studio isn’t revealing anything about the story, but given that the four actors who play the teens who take on the roles of the avatars in the games are returning, it seems likely. But we’ll have to wait and see. Are you happy to see this character return? Let us know your thoughts down below!
