Though director Chris McKay keeps insisting the Nightwing movie is happening, the title was missing from DC’s official roster at both San Diego Comic-Con last year, and Comic-Con Brazil just last month.
But, now it finally looks like we may be getting an official Nightwing update! Next month, as McKay teased on Twitter…
As usual you are right @rileyseverdeen … it's too early to talk about casting but in February… say around Valentine's Day maybe… I should have an update about where everything is with the first NIGHTWING movie!! https://t.co/f7hDRycA7b

So, this is news that news is coming! Which at least means, for the moment, the film has not been erased from DC’s memory. In fact, any announcement regarding casting or a release date would actually set the film ahead of nearly every other DC Extended Universe film.
The cryptic tweet could be referring to any old detail about Nightwing, but the way it is written does make it sound like we may learn who our Nightwing is come Valentine’s Day! Does this mean Dick Grayson will be a heartthrob? Are we getting the lead actor from 50 Shades of Grey?
50 Shades of Grayson!
Talking to people about casting Batman last week at my job, a lot of fellow cinephiles liked Jake Gyllenhaal better as Nightwing than a potential Batman. I’ve always liked the idea of Armie Hammer as Batman, but he too may be the perfect Dick!
Are you excited Nightwing isn’t dead? Who would you cast as Nightwing? Let us know in the comment section below!
