There will be no Black Knight or Ebony Blade in Eternals confirms producer Nate Moore. In an interview with ComicBook.com back during filming, Marvel producer Moore talked about the upcoming Marvel movie. Of course everyone now knows that Kit Harrington is playing Dane Whitman in the movie. If you know your Marvel comics, you also know that Dane Whitman is also the Avengers member Black Knight.
I never thought we’d see Black Knight in Eternals to be fair. I always figured Whitman would take that path farther down the line. At most, I expected some kind of event, or post-credit scene to tease that future for Whitman at the end of the movie, and that might still be the case. However as expected we won’t be seeing Whitman don his alter ego and famous sword in Eternals.
“You won’t see the Ebony Blade in this movie,” Moore said. “He’s not going to be Black Knight necessarily, but that is something that we get to play with down the road.”
Just as I think most fans guessed, not just me. There already feels like so much going on with this ensemble cast in Eternals. Realistically, I see Harrington’s role being a secondary one in the story. But as the MCU carries on, I’m sure eventually we will get to see Black Knight wield his legendary Ebony Blade against some villains.

It’s hard to envision any future yet for Eternals characters until fans see the movie and how it leaves things. I’m sure some of, if not all of these Eternals will be back. Gemma Chan’s Sersi seems a certainty at least, and of course she has that romance with Whitman. My guess is that the next time we do see Whitman, he’ll be suited up. What I can’t out my finger on yet, is how it all comes together. Guess I will know more once I see Eternals in November.
What do you think of the news there is no Black Knight or Ebony Blade in Eternals? As expected, or are you disappointed? Thoughts below.
