The popular sci-fi, horror film Nope held a global press conference in the middle of July in part of promoting the release. Among those participating was of course the creator Jordan Peele and cast members, Brandon Perea, Steven Yeun, Daniel Kaluuya and Keke Palmer.
Jordan Peele asked what inspired him for this film including the chapter breakdown. He also discussed horror films and building tensions in films. As well as to how he deals with expectations with each project and lessons he learned while filming this Nope and more.
Keke Palmer and Daniel Kaluuya were paired for the conference. They both discussed building the brother and sister bond for the film while being very opposite characters. As well as what they learned from each other while shooting. Kaluuya spoke about his experience working with Peele for the second time and his character’s calmness. They also discussed their favorite aspects in working with Jordan Peele and more.
Steven Youn discussed wanting to work with Jordan Peele before and what caught his attention after reading the script of Nope. He talks about Jupe, his character and if he molded his character on anyone in particular. As well as the challenges in filming outdoors, hot weather in a theme park set.
The key character Brandon Perea expressed excitement of being part of Hope and going the extra mile during the audition process that led to Jordan Peele editing the script for his character. Perea also discussed the most surprising thing he found in working with Peele. In addition to sharing his experience with the cast and how he can relate to Anger, his character and more.
