Nova Project Being Developed For Marvel Studios With Moon Knight Writer Sabir Pirzada

Marvel's Nova series is described as a blend of Battlestar Galactica and Star Trek according to exec Brad Winderbaum.

Deadline reports a Nova project being developed for Marvel Studios with Moon Knight writer Sabir Pirzada. Further details on the project are unclear, only that Pirzada is on writing duties currently. Nova is a character that Marvel has teased for a long time. Marvel boss Kevin Feige hinted the character would appear eventually. There was also a semi-set up for Nova within the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Then finding out Thanos decimated Xandar at the beginning of Infinity War was for me another step towards Nova.

“Richard Rider aka Nova looks to be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as sources tell Deadline that Marvel is developing a Nova project with Moon Knight scribe Sabir Pirzada on board to write. It is unknown for now whether this will be developed as a feature film or a limited series for Disney+. As always, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige will produce.”

My own guess at this time would be a Disney+ project. Given the backstory that would need to go into a Nova project I think a long form story would be the superior and less risky choice. Then again, Nova may end up being a VFX heavy project, so perhaps it’ll require that box office bonus to make it worthwhile? I still think we are looking at a Disney+ show though as Production Weekly recently had a listing for Untitled Marvel Space Project as a Disney+ show, and I wonder if the two could be the same?

Course, that is merely guess work on my part, so until further information comes out, who knows?

What do you think of the news of a Nova project being developed? Although we’ve yet to see the show, what do you think of Moon Knight writer Sabir Pirzada on scripting duties? As always, leave any thoughts below.
