Obi-Two Kenobi rumored? Of course, what I am referring to here is a rumored Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2. We already knew there was interest from lead star Ewan McGregor and the creative team behind Season 1 (if it becomes that). However Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy was slightly more coy when she insisted any additional Kenobi stories would have to make sense first and foremost. Well, the folks over at MSW, who certainly got a lot of details right about Obi-Wan Kenobi have claimed Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2 has been greenlit.
Here are the details below verbatim.
Today I learned some big things about Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi and the future of the series from sources inside Disney. Apparently the preliminary numbers for the show were so promising, continuing Kenobi’s story during “the dark times” of the Empire was looking extremely attractive. Ewan McGregor seemed to tease another season at Celebration. Then the show proved itself to be a powerhouse for Disney+ by breaking records for the streaming platform.
While a second season might seem to be a given for the “limited series,” there will be more stories for Kenobi in the future. I heard it from people inside Disney that Kenobi 2 is in fact going to happen. I do not know if it will be sold as the second season or something else. But changes have been made to Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi to explore some of the remaining story potential.
Great….Maybe Not?
Now the article linked above then goes into some serious story spoilers from the end of Obi-Wan Kenobi. They claim previous ending details they gave have been cut or replaced to allow certain story elements to carry on for potentially more stories. I don’t want to know the details and it’s up to you if you do, go click the link and spoil yourself.
Ok, so my worry is that we milk this proverbial tit too much. Thus far, and I know there’s 3 episodes to go, Kenobi has tread lightly enough on the canon implications that they’ve bent the belief barrier, but they haven’t broken it. Now, I know some fans think they have broken it and that’s always going to be whatever level of suspension of disbelief you employ.

To go further would scare me in several ways. to the point where doing too much could spoil the joy they’ve brought me so far with Obi-Wan Kenobi. For a start, if there is another story I would not want Leia featured , and if Vader is in it, I don’t want anymore direct confrontations. I don’t want that line in A New Hope to finish with a day of the week. For context, if confused. ” I sense something, a presence I’ve not felt since……Thursday evening when I last saw Kenobi”
Though if the story went in a direction more about Reva, and perhaps the few Jedi who are helping people to escape, and we see a more confident Ben have to help out? It’s dangerous, but it could work wit a lot of care and attention.
However with Obi-Wan Kenobi being the most watched show ever on Disney+ already, Disney will want this to happen.
