Obi-Wan Kenobi Set Photo Shows Lars Homestead Being Built

A new Obi-Wan Kenobi set photo has made its way online and it appears to show the Lars homestead. It’s hardly surprising given we know Owen and Beru Lars are in the show and Obi-Wan is watching out for a young Luke. However, it’s good to get a glimpse of the old Lars place again.

Back in the day, for both the OT and the PT, the Lars homestead in Tunisia, (which still exists) was used. Though, it makes a lot more sense for Lucasfilm to rebuild the set in their own shooting location in LA. Obi-Wan Kenobi will use The Volume, the new technique created for The Mandalorian. However some practical sets still need to be filmed. Thus we have a small Tatooine stand-in, somewhere in LA completely surrounded by barriers. Luckily, there is one square missing, which fans assume is for lighting reasons. Check it out courtesy of Noah Outlaw from KRT.

It is possible that this could be another Tatooine location, though I think the practical sets will be a minimal as possible. Therefore, this is likely Castle Lars. Given the aesthetic, and location, it seems likely this is for Obi-Wan Kenobi and not the soon to film Mando S3.

The return of Owen Lars at least was always rumored for Obi-Wan Kenobi. In fact let’s face it, it would have been weird not to have Owen in the show. However, those were only rumors until recent casting announcement confirmed both Joel Egderton as Owen and Bonnie Piesse as Beru. Those two, plus the obvious roles of McGregor and Christensen were the only new cast members we can put a character name to. The rest of the cast could be playing anyone for now.

What do you think of these Obi-Wan Kenobi set photos. Do you agree with Noah, and me that this is likely the Lars homestead? |As always, leave any thoughts below.
