Ocean’s 8 Trailer Name Drops Danny Ocean And Introduces The Cast

Yes, Hollywood is a lazy, lazy beast. In an effort to reduce as much friction as possible to get audiences into the cinemas, they tend to rely heavily on pre-existing franchises they know will sell. Add into that the rise of feminism, and you have a perfect storm that paves the way for genderswapping premises.

Perhaps the biggest example of this in recent memory is the live-action Ghostbusters film, which faced a ridiculous amount of fan backlash for that very reason. But, just because glomming onto existing franchises and swapping out the sexes is an easy way to guarantee bucks, doesn’t necessarily mean the end product itself is going to be bad.

The marketing for the upcoming Ocean’s 8 seems to be a testament of that. In the trailers we’ve seen so far, it looks like it retains the spirit of the 2000s Oceans 11 franchise, and let’s a band of talented actresses go nuts on set. In this latest trailer for the film, they name drop Danny Ocean and then go on to introduce the A-List cast that includes Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, and Helena Bonham Carter, among many others.

I, for one, who has only been a passing fan of this franchise, am sold on this. I’ll definitely be making the effort to check this out when it hits theaters this coming June. Admittedly, it doesn’t necessarily seem to add that’s different to the established franchise, but it’s been so long since we had one of these films that I’m okay with.

But what do you think? Do you agree that this looks solid? Let us know your thoughts down below!
