There’s not a single story that drug runners will end with a happy ending. In Arkansas, this film is about two drug couriers who don’t make the best decisions for themselves and others.
In Clark Duke’s directorial debut, Arkansas stars Liam Hemsworth (The Hunger Games, Independence Day: Resurrection), Clark Duke (The Croods, Hot Tube Time Machine), Michael Kenneth Williams (The Wire, 12 Years a Slave), Vivica A. Fox (Independence Day, Kill Bill: Vol. 1), Eden Brolin (Beyond, Back Fork), Chandler Duke (Where’s This Party?, Chandler Duke 4 Prez), John Malkovich (Being John Malkovich, In the Line of Fire) and Vince Vaughn (The Break-Up, Wedding Crashers).
Here’s the official synopsis:
Kyle (Liam Hemsworth) and Swin (Clark Duke) live by the order of an Arkansas-based drug kingpin named Frog (Vince Vaughn), whom they’ve never met. Posing as junior park rangers by day, they operate as low-level drug couriers by night under the watchful eye of Frog’s proxies (John Malkovich and Vivica A. Fox). However, after one too many inept decisions, Kyle and Swin find themselves directly in Frog’s crosshairs, who mistakenly see them as a threat to his empire.
The film is based on John Brandon’s best-selling book of the same name. Arkansas weaves together three decades of Deep South drug trafficking to explore the cycle of violence that turns young men into criminals and old men into legends.
Arkansas will have a world premiere at this year’s SXSW 2020. On May 1st, the film will be in select theaters, Apple, Amazon and On Demand.
