Recently, word came down that Timothy Olyphant would be joining the cast of The Mandalorian or its upcoming second season. Speculation of Olyphant’s role began immediately. With fans wondering where he would fit within the show’s world. Well, there’s no need to speculate anymore.
/Film is reporting the character Olyphant is set to play Cobb Vanth. The character first made an appearance in the Aftermath series written by Chuck Wendig. The sheriff (self-appointed as I understand it) of a Tatooine settlement known as Freetown.

Cobb Vanth wears Mandalorian armor that he obtained from Jawas who sifted through the debris of Jabba the Hutt’s sail barge. As mentioned above, we assume the armor once belonged to Boba Fett. The outlet says their sources confirmed that Olyphant filmed scenes wearing Fett’s armor.
Olyphant as a western space sheriff? This is fantastic, what a great piece of casting. Because Olyphant isn’t a name that often gets associated with science-fiction or Star Wars, he may seem a fish out of water. But in this case, he’s as perfect a fit a fan could ask for. I don’t think they could have made a better choice for this role (Sam Elliot perhaps?)
