Being a hitman isn’t as easy as one may think in One Day as a Lion.
Scott Caan leads the cast in this comedy about a hit man trying to do a job to save his son in prison. Instead, the botched job escalates into a mess, and he must seek an alternate path to fix everything.
The film also stars Frank Grillo (The Purge: Anarchy, Captain America: The Winter Soldier), Marianne Rendón (Imposters, Charlie Says), Taryn Manning (Orange Is the New Black, Hustle & Flow), George Carroll (The Town, Gone Baby Gone), Virginia Madsen (Sideways, Candyman), and J.K. Simmons (Whiplash, Juno).
John Swab (Ida Red, Candy Land) directed the film from the screenplay by Caan.
Here is the official synopsis:
Jackie Powers (Scott Caan) is a nice guy but a lousy hitman sent to take out a crafty debtor (J.K. Simmons). Jacky only pisses him off. Fleeing the scene, Jackie takes bored waitress Lola as a hostage. Jackie needs money to get his son out of jail, so Lola cooks up a scheme for them to get cash from her dying mother (Virginia Madsen). Meanwhile, a thug sent to kill him is sleeping with Jackie’s ex. This crime comedy is a witty homage to Tarantino and the Coen brothers.
