After over twenty seasons of the Japanese manga series One Piece, is finally coming to the small screen. To celebrate the release of the live action adaptation, Netflix went straw hats happy and gathered over 2500 attendees at the popular Santa Monica pier in Los Angeles, California to showcase several One Piece photo ops, access some of the piers rides and games.
The Synopsis
Based on Japan’s highest-selling manga series in history by Eiichiro Oda, ONE PIECE is a legendary high-seas adventure unlike any other. Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy, “The Imperfects”) is a young adventurer who has longed for a life of freedom since he can remember. Luffy sets off from his small village on a perilous journey to find the legendary fabled treasure, ONE PIECE, to become King of the Pirates! But in order to find the ultimate prize, Luffy will need to assemble the crew he’s always wanted before finding a ship to sail, searching every inch of the vast blue seas, outpacing the Marines, and outwitting dangerous rivals at every turn.
Among the rest of the cast is Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji.
After the sunset fans were able to enjoy the first episode of One Piece from a big screen under the clear California skies. In the first episode we learn about the energy and optimism “Monkey D. Luffy” has and is determined to find the ideal team to kick on the journey across the sea.
The big evening concluded with an unexpected surprise with a One Piece inspired drone show after the spectators concluded the ride of the first episode. The skies were illuminated with beautiful graphics inspired by the series adding to the evening excitement. Check out the drone show below…
