Orange Is The New Black Ending After Season 7

The animals, the animals, will no longer be trapped, trapped, trapped ’till the cage is full. By the end of Season 7, the women of Orange is the New Black will have done their time, the folks over at Netflix are telling us. Okay, I’ll stop trying to be cute with my words and just give you the news you came here to read.

The outlet is reporting that Orange is the New Black will be ending after seven seasons of serialized TV. Netflix made the announcement on Wednesday that the next batch of episodes, set to debut in 2019, will be the last we’ll be getting. Here’s what the series creator Jenji Kohan had to say in a statement:

“After seven seasons, it’s time to be released from prison. I will miss all the badass ladies of Litchfield and the incredible crew we’ve worked with. My heart is orange but fade to black.”

This isn’t exactly a huge surprise. The creator has mentioned this possibility in the past, and with the lead character Piper getting released at the end of last season, it set the table for the show to follow her for the final season as she adjusts to life on the outside.

2019 marks a huge year for Netflix as a whole, as it will see the end of both Orange is the New Black and House of Cards, two shows that helped make Netflix isn’t the name in TV it is today.
