Original Daredevil: Born Again Head Writers Now Only Credited With One Episode

The original, but now fired, Daredevil: Born Again head writers are now only credited with one episode of Season 1 according to the WGA. Once the writers strike hit Chris Ord and Matt Corman were sacked by Marvel after reviewing the show so far. So were the directors and a new crew was brought on board to rejig the series into a direction more pleasing to Marvel execs.

The idea being that any useable footage would be used and the rest would be rewritten and filmed in reshoots.

Now we have the writing credits for all nine episodes and Ord and Corman are only credited on Episode 2. Here is the full list below. Many featuring newly hired showrunner Dario Scardapane.

Episode 1 – Dario Scardapane,

2 – Matt Corman & Chris Ord,

3 – Jill Blankenship,

4 – David Feige and Jesse Wigutow,

5 – Grainne Godfree,

6 – Thomas Wong,

7 – Jill Blankenship,

8 – Jesse Wigutow and Dario Scardapane,

9 – Heather Bellson & Dario Scardapane.

Whilst we don’t know exactly what happened with the previous version of this show we do have some rumors. The Barside Buzz was that Matt didn’t even suit up as Daredevil until half way through the series. The start was rumored to be essentially a legal procedural. The other big rumor was that Foggy and Karen had just died off-screen. Neither were in the series, we know that much for a fact. Whereas both are now back for the rewritten Daredevil: Born Again.

I can’t say for certain this was the right call by Marvel. However from what little we have seen, I’m guessing this was a very wise choice. I’m really looking forward to Daredevil: Born Again. Hope it lives up to expectations when it hits next April.
