Oscar Isaac Says Star Wars: Episode IX Will Bring The Conclusion Of All Nine Movies

One of the issues I have always had with Disney’s Star Wars sequels was how they would bolt on another trilogy when the entire Star Wars Skywalker saga was effectively wrapped in in Return of the Jedi.

Whether you think Disney have done this effectively or not with Episodes 7 & 8 is massively open for debate, as we can clearly see happens in the comments section of every Star Wars article we post. I am sure regular readers know by now, I myself fall into the negative category here. For me thus far, Disney has not made me believe there was really nine parts to this story. It instead feel like a sequel to that six part story instead of the ending of one continuous story.

Now, we still have Star Wars: Episode 9 to arrive this December, and who knows, perhaps this final chapter will provide a satisfying conclusion to all nine movies? Star Wars star Oscar Isaac who play’s Poe Dameron certainly seems to thinks so. He was speaking to Today on the promotional trail for his new movie Triple Frontier and told the outlet he believes Episode 9 will provide a satisfying conclusion to all nine Star Wars movies. The interview is in video format, but here is the relevant quote below.

“It is the end of the entire Skywalker saga. Nine stories. This is the culmination of the entire thing. What J.J. has done, and the entire Lucasfilm team, is gonna be incredibly fulfilling. It’s also special for us because you get to learn a lot more things about these characters.”

I genuinely hope Isaac is right, I want Episode 9 to be really good and make me look at Episodes 7 and 8 in a better light, I really do. But, do I have any confidence in this eventuality occurring? Well, no. I have as yet never seen JJ Abrams end a story satisfactorily, and I look at Alias, Abrams breakthrough TV series as the best evidence of this fact.

Again, I hope he shuts me up by delivering an epic conclusion, but I cannot help but feel dubious about the prospects. Still, you don’t have to be an old grumpy Star Wars fan like me, Oscar Isaac says this one will provide a satisfactory end to all nine movies, time will tell if he was right.

What do you think of Isaac’s comments, do you disagree with me that this trilogy feels like a sequel more than a continuation of one story? Come at me in the usual place below, I already expect to see some of you regulars for the age old debate.
