Details are scant on the new project coming from The Lego Batman director Chris McKay. We know the project will feature time travel and aliens. Also, it’s not called Edge of Tomorrow 2. Now we know that Spider-Man: Far From Home’s J.K. Simmons is in talks to join Ghost Draft. The project already has enlisted Guardians of The Galaxy’s Chris Pratt.
It’s believed that Simmons has been enlisted to play Pratt’s father. Ghost Draft was written by Zach Dean and Bill Dubuque. Curiously Dean also penned the 2017 action thriller 24 Hours To Live that starred Training Day’s Ethan Hawke. The concept for that project involved a career assassin who is revived for 24 hours of revenge.
Dubuque’s writing credit include the Ben Affleck vehicle The Accountant. I hope the two have written something sci-fi and chock full of strong action sequences. Ghost Draft is set in the future where mankind turns to time travel and enlists soldiers from the past to fight a war against aliens.
What those aliens will look like has yet to be revealed. A part of me wonders if the project will feature some sort of communication medium akin to that Gregory Hoblit directed science-fiction drama Frequency released back in 2000. That film starred Dennis Quaid and a pre Passion of The Christ Jim Caviezel. I’m just speculating. Either way the cast for Ghost Draft can’t go wrong with Oscar winner J.K. Simmons. Stay tuned for more news as this project approaches production.
