A new reports indicates that should Paramount be successful in acquiring WB. Discovery, they are keen to keep Studio heads including DC Studios. Ergo the DCU would be allowed to continue as is under studio heads Peter Safran and James Gunn. Though it looks like WB Motion Pictures will also keep current chairs Pamela Abdy and Michael De Luca according to the report from Bloomberg.

They say Paramount “wants to keep the creative teams of the two studios, while consolidating some of the marketing and distribution, according to people familiar with his plans.”

In less official capacity industry insider John Campea also had this to say in his latest video,

“I know a couple people over at Paramount, into which I wrote—and I quoted this article out of Bloomberg. I said, ‘Ellison plans on keeping the creative teams in place—And I specifically and directly asked, ‘Does that include Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy, and does that include James Gunn and Peter Safran?’ To which they gave me a simple response: ‘Yes.'”

Now, it’s not to say that Paramount will be successful in their pursuit of WB. Discovery. However, someone is going to end up buying the corporation and Paramount are publicly the most keen.

Honestly, no matter who end up owning WB/D there is no real reason to start dismantling all the plans of both studios. Profits are being generated and so far DC Studios is doing better than it did pre-Safran and Gunn. Though, one question worth asking is, would these studio heads want to stay under the new regime and would they get the same freedom they do now?

One rumor though, is that HBO and Max would be incorporated into Paramount + streaming service. Let me just say this, that actually make less sense for me than doing it the other way.

HBO is a much bigger brand name in TV quality than Paramount is. Equally, I like many other subscribers and former subscribers of Paramount + have had issues with the service. The platform itself is cheap and nasty compared to rivals like Netflix or Disney+. Functionality and UI is poor and the stabilization of the actual streams are worse as well. I won’t be going back to being a subscriber of Paramount+ until they make the product work consistently well. Whether you have Harry Potter and Game of Thrones spin-off series or not. I’d rather purchase them on a better service for more money.

What do you think of all this news around the sale of WB. Discovery, potentially to Paramount? Thoughts below.
