Pedro Pascal and Katee Sackhoff talk character arcs in Mando S3! Total Film chatted with The Mandalorian actors about where things go for their characters in Season 3. For those who have seen the Star Wars Celebration footage, which I have, then you’ll know it looks like Mando is leading other Mandalorians at one point. Pascal was asked about potential leadership?
“If he is stepping into a leadership position, he’s reluctant to do so. I don’t think that there’s anything more interesting than a character being forced into discovering what they’re capable of, and who they are. That part has been really, really fun. Also, from my point of view, there’s so many searchable ways to find the tonality of that. I just tried to achieve the subtleties of that kind of character development.”
If Mando is to lead, what about Bo-Katan Kryze?
“Anytime you have a goal and you don’t succeed, I think you reevaluate,” Katee Sackoff, behind Bo-Katan’s mask, says.
That’s all Sackhoff is saying for now. Though the footage also showed she has scenes with Grogu in Season 3 and Sackhoff talked about that process.
“It’s funny because you always have to think about how you’re interacting with Grogu,” Sackoff says. “It’s so specific, you have to make sure that you’re not doing anything that says something different. Every single thing, every single interaction with Grogu is very, very thought out.”
The Mandalorian Season 3 will premiere on Disney+ at some point in February ’23. I guess we will find out more then. However I foresee a rift building between Dinn Djarin and Bo-Katan Kryze. That should provide plenty of drama going forward if the Mandalorians are split by a potential ‘battle for the throne’ as it were.
