It was recently revealed that several animated and adult themed animated series would be coming to Hulu from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. You can catch the full list in the related article below, but one character stood out to me, and that was M.O.D.O.K. To be honest, I had always hoped he might turn up at some point in the movie side of the MCU, but I was intrigued how Marvel would develop a series based on this strange villain.
Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K. comes from Patton Oswalt (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) and Jordan Blum (American Dad, Community), with the two serving as executive producers on the series alongside fellow EP Jeph Loeb. We also have to assume that Oswalt will be voicing the protagonist of this series given his comments on Marvel’s official website.
“I could not be more excited for you guys to see what we do with M.O.D.O.K. He’s the character I was, sadly, born to play.”

Jordan Blum is also quoted in the article talking about his thoughts on M.O.D.O.K.
“Who is M.O.D.O.K. to me? Well, you have to start at his creation. I find M.O.D.O.K. to be just as iconic as all the other classic Jack Kirby / Stan Lee collaborations. Kirby’s design is the stuff of nightmares yet he’s also somehow… slightly adorable? Stan Lee wrote him as this amazing flawed character, always being undone by his inflated ego and thin skin. Over the years he’s been portrayed as both a menace and a joke and I think our show is much more interested in exploring him as a human being. A human being who’s also a Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing! At the end of the day M.O.D.O.K. is a giant-headed, petulant, insecure, egomaniac with zero social skills. And I for one find that incredibly relatable.”
Well, I can’t fathom where this series will take us when it finally arrives on Hulu, but I am sure going to be tuning in to find out.
What do you think of Oswalt and Blum’s comments, are you as intrigued by this idea as I am? Tell us what you think in the comments below.
