At the end of each episode of The Mandalorian we find out the director. Not this week as Pedro Pascal reveals the director for The Mandalorian Chapter 16. Pascal has been doing some promotional work for his new movie WW84, and in almost every interview he is asked about The Mandalorian. After all, we have the Season 2 finale tomorrow.
This time in the video below from #extraTV, around the 6:30 minute mark, Pascal states that Peyton Reed directed The Mandalorian Chapter 16. You’ll remember that Reed already directed Chapter 10 of The Mandalorian, ‘The Passenger’.
To jog your memory that was the one in the cave with the creepy ice spiders. I’ve heard some fans get on Reed’s back for that episode. I’ll just say I thought it was well directed. I’ve seen some script criticism which I don’t agree with, but even then that’s not on Reed is it?

Still, it is an interesting choice and there was some rumors I had seen pointing towards Favreau himself directing this one. Truthfully those were I think just guess work it seems and no one really knew for sure, until now. The most bizarre rumor I heard about the director of Chapter 16, was that it was secretly George Lucas. I can see why some fans might get excited about that, I can, and yet, not me. I think Lucas was already past his directing best in the late 90’s for the prequels, so having him back does nothing for me. Would I like to see Lucas’ ideas used as a base, absolutely, but never behind the camera or the typewriter again.
One thing is for sure, The Mandalorian Chapter 16 will be a different task to direct than Chapter 10 was. I’m eager to see how well Reed performed, but mostly, I’m just excited to see how Season 2 ends. What do you think of Reed as the director for The Mandalorian Chapter 16? Thoughts below as always.
