According to numerous sources, Pedro Pascal will play Reed Richards in Fantastic Four. Plus, a rumor that Javier Bardem tipped for Galactus. I’ll get to the bigger more reputable sources for this in a second. However, I do want to explain how this story evolved.
Pascal is Reed Richards
The first thing was a rumor from regular leaker we cover MTTSH, so kudos to her again. She did have a small moment of panic when she thought she had got wires crossed. Posting that perhaps it was not Reed that Pascal was playing in the film after all. However, she was then backed up by another leaker Daniel RPK.
More importantly though, was who came next, Deadline. Here is what the trade heard.
‘After months of speculation over who might play Reed Richards aka Mr. Fantastic in Marvel Studios‘ Fantastic Four, the wait may be finally over. While a deal is far from done, sources tell Deadline that three-time Emmy nominee Pedro Pascal is in talks to play the leader of the iconic superhero team.’
‘Insiders add that scheduling is still being worked out, but multiple sources close to the negotiations are saying it’s headed in the right direction for Pascal to do this and his other future projects. Pascal has a full dance card that includes Gladiator 2, which is expected to go into production before the end of the year, as well as his popular HBO series The Last Of Us, which is expected to shoot next year as well as Zach Cregger’s Weapons.’
I would not expect to see many shots of Mando out his mask in The Mandalorian Season 4. Just saying folks, sorry. That’s gonna be voice work only for sure. Or, perhaps some kind of recast will be needed eventually for Mando?

It is worth noting that the leaks community were saying signed whilst the trade was careful to not be definitive. However, one very reputable outlet then came out and said Pascal has already signed. Here is what /Film reported.
‘After much speculation, wondering, fan-casting, and impatience, word has come out — and /Film’s sources can confirm — that Pascal will be starring as Reed Richards, also known as Mr. Fantastic, in the upcoming “Fantastic Four” reboot set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.’
‘The news was initially reported by Daniel RPK, but according to sources close to the project who spoke with /Film, Pascal has officially signed on the dotted line. Although Daniel RPK’s report says Pascal is in talks, /Film’s source says the deal is done and should be announced soon. We have reached out to Disney for comment.’
Far as I can tell, MTTSH beat RPK by mouse’s whisker, but it’s kinda irrelevant. My guess is that the trades knew of this but had been asked to keep it quiet if possible. However, once the leakers got the information the trades had to give up what they knew.
So, it is starting to look like our Fantastic Four is finally set. Vanessa Kirby as Sue, Pascal as Reed, Joseph Quinn as Johnny and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben.
Galactus – Barside BUZZ
This one is a rumor for now folks. Another regular insider claims that Javier Bardem is the favorite to play Galactus in Fantastic Four. Jeff Sneider says in a new article that he was aware of Pascal but asked not to reveal the information. However, he’s heard Bardem has moved ahead of Antonio Banderas as front runner to play Galactus. Here is what Sneider says.
‘And now for the other name to simply keep an eye on as far as Fantastic Four goes. Last week, I was told by the same source who told me about Pedro that Oscar winner Javier Bardem is being eyed to play Galactus.’
‘One insider I spoke to said that Bardem had a scheduling conflict, which appears to be Apple’s F1 movie starring Brad Pitt, a film I’ll write more about tomorrow. The question is whether that F1 movie will truly preclude Bardem from performing what is largely a voice role a la Josh Brolin’s Thanos, though I imagine there will be some motion-capture element involved that may require whoever plays Galactus to be on set.’
‘I know that Antonio Banderas had previously been tipped for the role of Galactus, and perhaps it will come back to him, but for now, I believe Bardem is the front runner, schedule permitting… which it may not!’
Not that it’s up to me, but I prefer Bardem for this one myself.
