Pennyworth Makes Jump to HBO Max for Season Three | DC FanDome 2021

Pennyworth with Jack Bannon

As expected, HBO Max announced the renewal of the DC series Pennyworth from Warner Bros. Television for season three at the DC FanDome 2021. Previously, the first two seasons aired on Epix.

The series starred Jack Bannon as Alfred Pennyworth with Ben Aldridge, Emma Paetz, Ryan Fletcher, Hainsley Lloyd Bennett, Paloma Faith, Polly Walker, and Jason Flemyng.

The DC origin series Pennyworth follows Alfred Pennyworth, a former British SAS soldier, who forms a security company in the 1960s London and goes to work with young billionaire Thomas Wayne (Ben Aldridge) before he becomes Bruce Wayne’s father.

For season three, the series began after a five-year-jump: the civil war is over, and a cultural revolution has changed the world for better or worse—ushering in a new age of superheroes and supervillains.

Based on the DC characters created by Bob Kane with Bill Finger, season three is slated for ten episodes.

Pennyworth joins other DC titles along with Doom Patrol, Titans, and the upcoming Peacemaker on HBO Max. It was an expected move since the launch of HBO Max as a streaming service and the scale-back of original programming from MGM-owned Epix. According to Deadline, Epix will get a second window under a deal.

Also, the announcement was made that the two seasons on Epix will make a move into HBO Max digital platform in 2022.

Audiences and fans should rejoice after this news for Pennyworth. With a growing subscriber base for HBO Max and consolidation of its DC properties, the series can gain new eyeballs and a reliable streaming service to find this show.

The exact dates of releases are not revealed at this time.
