Peyton Reed Says We’ll have To Wait To Find Out Who The ‘Benefactor’ Is

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania director Peyton Reed says fans will have to wait a little longer to find out who the ‘Benefactor’ is. Fans have been wondering who the mysterious boss of Sonny Burch (Walton Goggins) is since Ant-Man and the Wasp. However Reed indicates that the answer to that question will not be explored in Quantumania. Reed spoke recently with Legado da Marvel and he was asked if this mystery will be revealed in the new movie?

“Well, for that particular question, you may have to wait a little bit longer. I love Sonny Burch, I love Walton Goggins, who I cast in in the movie. But yes, he was definitely sort of working in service of someone. I don’t know that we’ll answer that in this movie, because we have a lot of story to tell in the Quantum Realm in this movie. But I love that fans have theories about that.”

“We have our own ideas about what that can be and that’s part of the fun of not always knowing if we’re going to get to make another movie. But you know, with the first one, we didn’t know. And certainly with this one, we didn’t know. But for this one, my big goal was, we’ve sort of dipped our toe into the Quantum Realm, but now we get to go down, and explore it, and go deep into the Quantum Realm, and see that it is this whole subatomic universe, and that Janet, she was down there for 30 years.”

There are of course fan theories aplenty as Reed says. However there are also some potentially viable rumors. Remember that supposed pre-viz of Doctor Doom that was potentially going to be a post-credit scene in Wakanda Forever? Well, the rumors around that at the time were that Doom was also Burch’s benefactor. However, that post-credit scene never happened and we now don’t really know if this is indeed the plan at Marvel.

Granted, Doom would be a powerful reveal. However, you get the feeling Marvel are not quite ready for Doom just yet. He is coming though, of that you can be sure. Whether Doom is indeed the ‘Benefactor’ or not remains to be seen? At the end of the day, until it’s locked into a movie or a show, Marvel can change their mind. I have no strong emotions either way. I look forward to Doom. However if Burch’s boss is not Doom, but some other story plot point, then all good for me.

However, what is clear, is that Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will be focused on the Quantum Realm, and the proper introduction of a certain Kang the Conqueror.

What do you think of his comments as Quantumania director Peyton Reed says fans will have to wait a little longer to find out who the ‘Benefactor’ is? Thoughts, speculation, fan theories, go for it below as always.
