Picard Season 2 Trailer And Release Window Confirmed

Picard Season 2 trailer

Yesterday was Star Trek day and below you can check out the new Picard Season 2 trailer. Confirmed at the end of the trailer is that Picard Season 2 will hit Paramount+ in February, 2022. Since Paramount+ is not a worldwide streaming service it remains to be seen what date the show will appear and on what platform where you live if outside the U.S. Though it seem most territories will get the show on Amazon Prime. That’s where I watched Picard Season 1 in the U.K. so it makes sense, and the date at the end of this Amazon branded trailer below has the same February, 2022 window.

The trailer confirms the basic plot of Picard Season 2. Q visits Jean-Luc to inform him he is still on trial. Q then seemingly moves Picard and his crew into an alternate Universe with totalitarian control and an Alt Picard in charge. Picard and the team must then go back in time to the early 21st Century to fix something or other. In other words, the vast majority of Picard Season 2 seems to be set in our current time. Frankly I am not a fan of that. I know Star Trek has done this with almost every series they’ve ever made, but it was easier to ignore the odd episode in a full series. This is a full season dedicated to the story and I’m not sure I’m on board.

What I wanted from any continuation of the TNG era was what happened next after all the dramatic events. We got a little of that in Picard Season 1 but I hoped for more. Sadly, it looks like this will be a completely self contained story.

During Star Trek day we also got a premiere date for Star Trek: Discovery Season 4 of November 18th. Again that show will appear exclusively on Paramount+ where available, but as yet I can find no confirmation of the same date for international markets. In my country Discovery is actually on Netflix where Picard is Amazon, so it’s… weird.

What do you thin  of the Picard Season 2 trailer. Interest enough to check it out next February, or not? Thoughts below.
